New Version of Windows live Messenger and screen readers?

Today, my Windows live Messenger started prompting me to install an update. has anyone done it yet? If so, does the update do anything bad to any screen readers?

TIA,

Al

it's not too nice with jaws versions under 10. And with 10, you need to get the latest update, which came out this week.

Even with the new update, while it's usable, it annoyed me enough that I downgraded after a few days of using it.

I, on the other hand, sort of like the new interface, but I'm one who kinda likes odd things.

However, if for some reason you absolutely need the new JAWS, expect to use the new WLM. The old one may not work.

yeah, i tried downgrading but it said i needed to upgrade anyway.

i got the new jaws installed now and it's okay

it's not the best messenger release... I happened to stumble across it when getting Windows Live essentials, but the moment I saw that interface I freaked and uninstalled it. Then I googled a standalone installer for messenger 8.5 and that hasn't asked me to upgrade yet, or it might of but I just didn't see the message. lol. But I'm running 8.5 here which is probably the most accessible messenger thus far which isn't that old (yet)

It seemed to me that the new ver of windows livve took more away than it added.

Today I just installed that update, and the only problem i am having is that Jaws no longer reads the messages in conversations with the alt and number keys. I have noticed that jaws will read the messages when the screene is minomized, and if I root my cursers. Does anyone know if there is a script that I can get to work with Jaws 9?
Blessings,
Angela

just what is the newest version of WLM, and how do you update to the latest version of JFW10? and if I download it, the new WLM, how do I get plus back? and just exactly what is wrong with WLM and JFW?

to answer the JFW update question, i believe jaws 10.0.1139 (update) is free to all jaws 10 users. try "check for updates" from the jaws help menu. if that doesn't work, go to the FS website and download it from there.

I hate the new version of windows live messenger! I tried using it with jaws 9 and it's just useless. I can't get a working crack of jaws 10, so can't really use the new windows live messenger + so just stuck with the old one.

Does anybody know if the new version of messenger works with window-eyes seven?

Every time i sign in to MSN, it gives me an install alert. I just it escape to close that dialog, but I wish it wouldn't keep doing this, because there's no way in hell i'm upgrading, even though I have JAWS ten on both this computer and my desktop.

I experience this issue in JAWS9.0 as well. I don't think there is a way to resolve it. Unles there are updated scripts in JAWS10, I suppose one could compile them under JAWS9 and get the support. And I believe all of FreedomScientific's scripts are open-source anyway; it shouldn't be that difficult. Unless, of course, there are scripting changes in JAWS10 that JAWS9 does not know about. In that case obviously the scripts would not compile. I do not have JAWS10 and do not know the script names or anything like that.
